Assessment and Reporting
Assessment improves a student's performance by highlighting strengths and weaknesses, enabling appropriate strategies to be used by both teachers and students.
Assessment at the American Academy Limassol takes the form of written tests, homework, class work, coursework and class participation as well as formal examinations. Reporting upon progress and the results of assessment forms a significant part of school/parent communication and is fundamental to the learning process. Adequate and regular feedback enables students to develop a satisfactory awareness of their skills and capabilities and keeps parents informed of their child's progress.
Formal reporting takes the form of face -to-face regular interviews and written reports issued throughout the year. I n addition, a Parents Visit Schedule is issued in S eptember indicating when teachers will be available to see parents throughout the year.
The school curriculum is an entitlement for all students and special arrangements are made for students with specific learning difficulties. Cases are considered individually after referral to the Learning Support Center and in consultation with the Educational Phychologist.
